Secretary of Defense Robert Gates arrived in China to hostile attitudes and a cold lecture from Chinese officials.

And today, with eerie coincidence, China decided to test its new stealth fighter jet!

Speaking to reporters after the 15-minute test flight of the J-20 stealth fighter, Gates said, "I asked President Hu about it directly, and he said that the test had absolutely nothing to do with my visit and had been a pre-planned test. And that's where we left it."

In all fairness, there's not much else Gates can really say in public to that.
