A man armed with a knife was shot by a sheriff's deputy this morning in Fort Morgan.
The incident happened about 4:30 a.m. at the New Concept Inn, 17505 Highway 34, according to a Morgan County Sheriff's Office media release.
Deputies were called to the address on a report of domestic violence, the sheriff's office said.
When deputies arrived they encountered an uncooperative man who pulled a knife, the release said.
A deputy Tasered the man at least three times but it had minimal effect. The man, still armed with the knife, turned and advanced and was then shot by the deputy, the release said.
The man was taken by ambulance to the Colorado Plains Medical Center. Details on his condition were not available, but the sheriff's office said the injuries are not life-threatening.
The shooting, and the domestic violence report, are under investigation. The deputy who fired the round has been placed on paid leave during the investigation.
