Allentown Police were dispatched to Silk and Tilghman streets on a report of a suspicious man going through yards.
When they arrived, they watched Chase M. Kriens, 25 of Shankweiler Road, erratic movements, Hendricks said.
"He was like playing cat and mouse with them for a while," Hendricks said. "He jumped in the back of a parked pick-up truck, and then he jumped out."
After a few other moves, police went in for the arrest, he failed to cooperate with arresting officers who shot the Orefield man five times with a Taser stun gun before arresting him.
The first shot had no effect because one of the two probes didn't hit Kriens, but then, at the rear of the Little Apple Market, he took four strong zaps of electric power, Hendricks said.
After one shot, Kriens "got down and was complying with the officer, at which time he got in a football stance, lurched ahead and tried to escape," Hendricks said, adding that Kriens resisted even after three more shots.
"This is why he got Tased five times," Hendricks said.
Kriens was charged with resisting arrest, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct, and because he was on probation, he was sent to Lehigh County Prison to await further action.
