The holiday shopping incident took place late Thanksgiving night at the WalMart Plaza on the Boston Post Road in Milford, CT.

According to police, at around 10 p.m., a fight broke out in an area where customers were waiting to buy video games.

A father was attempting to assist his 11-year-old son, who was knocked to the ground by the crowd, when he was confronted by Brian Shellnutt, 26, of West Rutland Rd., said Police Spokesman Jeff Nielsen.

Shellnutt then allegedly began to assault another customer trying to help  the father and son.

As the melee ensued, authorities stepped in to break up disturbance.

Shellnutt allegedly failed to comply and continued trying to strike the other customer again.

Police said they used a Taser gun on Shellnut to get him to stop.

He was charged with assault in the third degree, breach of peace and risk of injury, and was released on his promise to appear in court Dec. 13.
