NM Lawmakers: Rape victims who abort are felons. Seems legit?
Republicans....This is why we can't have nice things: I know it's not exactly considered cool around here to bash conservatives but I'm gonna do it right now....
What if I told you that lawmakers in New Mexico want to make rape
victims felons if they do not carry their pregnancies to term, because
they're "tampering with evidence" that can be used at a sexual assault
trial?
Well, it's true: a lawmaker in New Mexico introduced a bill on
Wednesday that would legally require victims of rape to carry their
pregnancies to full term in order to use the fetus as evidence for a
sexual assault trial.
House Bill 206, introduced by state Rep. Cathrynn Brown (R), would
charge a rape victim who ended her pregnancy with a third-degree felony
for "tampering with evidence."
More laws - more rules - more government in your face telling you what to do: Reps or Dems, doesn't matter, it still sucks.
This is a good example of when the right is just as bad as the
left. I don't like abortions. I assume nobody does, except maybe some
of the sickest members of the extreme left, but the last thing a rape
victim wants to do is carry the baby of their attacker for 9 months.
Can't we all just agree that abortions are a necessary evil - especially in the case of rape?
No? Okay, fine - but consider this....
Republicans:
remember how this ended for Todd Akin? Back down and shut up or the
next time you're up for a reelection you're gonna lose the fight against
the Dems over FAR more important issues like..... the economy....or I
dunno...... gun rights, maybe?
Seriously, get a clue! The Dems won the last election by scaring stupid young voters with illogical irrational untrue arguments like "Mitt Romney seeks to ban tampons" or "All gays will be deported under Romney administration." Sounds stupid, huh? Well, turning rape victims who get abortions into felons is a great example of where these irrational scare tactics originate from.
Finally....the whole "using a fetus as evidence" concept pretty much equates the unborn fetus to being a 'thing' and not a 'person' and that sort of defeats the whole purpose of why you really hate abortions in the first place, now doesn't it?
Take a deep breath.....Think about it....and back down on this one.
