Should NFL widen field to promote safety?

There reportedly have been discussions by NFL officials to widen playing fields from 160 feet to 195, the same width as Canadian Football League fields.

And with the owners meeting in March, the topic likely will come up again. Why?

It's believed a wider field would make it safer for players - there would be fewer violent collisions, thus fewer concussions. With NFL players bigger and faster than ever, fields have become too small.

We pay these guys MILLIONS of dollars.  If safety is the ONLY reason to make the field wider, I say these football players need to man up and move on.  Communist Canada is the last country we should be modeling ourselves after.  You know what else they play in Canada?  Hockey.
