Drunk US Man Dials 911 To Get Free Bar Ride
A man in Florida who called 911 police emergency claiming he had been beaten and shot at was actually hoping for a free ride to a bar, US officials say.
But now Gregory Jerome Oras, 37, is facing charges of misusing the 911 system and battery of an official.
Sgt Tom Nestor of the Pinellas County sheriff's office told the BBC Mr Oras made the false claims as he was walking to a bar in Oldsmar late on Monday.
He said Mr Oras, who was drunk, kicked the sheriff's deputy during the arrest.
A Taser gun was also used to subdue Mr Oras, who hails from New Orleans, the sergeant added.
The officer added that the man was so drunk that he "could hardly stand".
