According to Lewis Halsey, who led the study, the reason that less attractive people start looking better with every beer is because alcohol DULLS your ability to recognize symmetry.

Humans tend to prefer faces that are SYMMETRICAL . . . it's our biological instinct, because symmetry is a sign of strong genes. 

With more alcohol, you can't detect symmetry as well, so people with asymmetrical faces look better.
