Glenn Beck Rally Attracts People

Glenn Beck Rally Attendance – The estimates of crowd size for Glenn Beck’s “restoring honor” rally vary greatly depending on who you ask. The event organizers had obtained a permit for 300,000 people to gather at the Lincoln memorial, but have estimated that there were as many as 500,000 in the crowd. However, a number of other sources have estimated that the crowd size is actually much lower. AirPhotosLive.com took pictures of the crowd, and has said that there were between 78,000 and 96,000 in attendance at the event.

Those who attended filled six full blocks, according to CNN. ABC has estimated the total to be over 100,000, but has not released an exact number. Why are the estimates so different from one another? The event organizers likely wanted the event to sound much bigger than it actually was, so their estimate of 500,000 people is likely far too high.

Regardless of how many people showed up, the turnout was huge. It goes to show just how much power Glenn Beck has over his listeners/viewers.

It will be interesting to see how things pan out in the wake of the event. Beck who is a Mormon has already come under fire for likening his cause to that of the civil rights movement. Reverend Al Sharpton said that Beck was wrong for making the comparison, and using the anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King’s “I have a Dream” speech to promote his controversial event.
