NOAA: Blizzard Rearranges Climate Change Announcement

As D.C. continued to dig out from Snowmageddon and is keeping an eye on another storm system, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration was busy making a climate change announcement.

NOAA, part of the Department of Commerce, is going to be providing information to individuals and decision-makers through a new NOAA Climate Service office. “More and more, Americans are witnessing the impacts of climate change in their own backyards, including sea-level rise, longer growing seasons, changes in river flows, increases in heavy downpours, earlier snowmelt and extended ice-free seasons in our waters. People are searching for relevant and timely information about these changes to inform decision-making about virtually all aspects of their lives,” the release says.

Earlier snowmelt? That would be nice.

Turns out the release was planned prepared ahead of the snowstorm, which shut federal agencies today and forced its senders to hold a press conference by telephone instead of at the National Press Club.

It’s not the first time inclement weather has put a chill on official efforts to tackle climate change. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi had to leave the Copenhagen summit early in December to get back to D.C. before the blizzard known as Snowpocalypse grounded all flights.

We know how this argument goes: Climate change-skeptics such as former House Speaker Newt Gingrich says that the weather conditions prove that 'global warming' is a hoax; activists say that scientists are looking at longer-lasting weather patterns.

But, says NOAA spokesman Justin Kenney, they’re happy to have a chance to educate people about the difference between the climate and the weather.

The facts are that it has been colder in NJ and we are epnxrieecing temps that are 2 months ahead of schedule. Then it goes to the extreme for a day or two. My scientific facts are watching the news and getting the meteorologists report and actually epnxrieecing the weather. We had a busy hurricane season that went on way too long too. Check out the devastation concerning the weather in all parts of the world and one could conclude that this is in fact true. Iraq had snow for the first time too. Weird? I think so.

What does the word CHANGE mean to you, stay the same??? Deserts will become awash with foolding, rain-forest will see drought, the Jet-Stream moves down 3 States in the US, causing the artic air to go to the lower states, while the northern states enjoy a Warmth durring the winter!!ME!There is so much dis-information on this subject it is rediculis to say go here or there In my lifetime I have seen the amount of natural disasters increase by a factor of 5 over the last 40 years where we would have 1 every 5 years, we now have 5 per year ME AGAIN!. http://wintwtzuat.com afdutu [link=http://hcpremz.com]hcpremz[/link]

yes, an ocean current caleld the gulf stream runs from the north atlantic reagon of the artic sea where the salt water freezes depositing its salt into the rest of the water, this then becomes heavey and sinks to the bottom of the ocean where it creates a current that travels to the caribean. here it surfaces as it get heated up and travels accross the atlantic straight at the british isles where it deposits its heat. that is why the british isles are much hotter than land at a similar latitude (ie newfoundland) and also why you can find coconut trees growing in scotland. if the temporatures raised in the artic then the salt water would stop freezing and the current would not have enough energy to reach the caribean and the gulf stream would stop, plunging the british isles into a deep, deep freeze like they get in canada.so yes, very much so.
